Make sure my emails reach you

Email providers are cautious, and sometimes they tuck a perfectly good email into spam or promotions where you will never see it. Adding me to your contacts tells your provider I am someone you know. It takes about a minute and you only have to do it once.

If you already added The Salted Pepper Kitchen as a contact, scroll down to see the exact steps for whitelisting my email address, which is the best way to make sure you receive my emails.

The address to add

[email protected]

It looks long and odd, but that is the address every one of my emails is sent from, so it is the one to add.

Tap or click my name at the top of any email from me and look for Add to Contacts.

Adding me as a contact works for most email providers, but you can view the specific directions for your email provider below.

Gmail

  1. Click the gear in the top right, then See all settings.
  2. Open the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab, then Create a new filter.
  3. In the From box, put [email protected], then click Create filter.
  4. Tick Never send it to Spam, then click Create filter again.

If one of my emails landed in your Promotions tab, drag it over to Primary and say yes when Gmail offers to do that from now on.

AOL Mail

  1. Click the Settings gear, then More Settings.
  2. Choose Filters, then Add new filter.
  3. Name it anything you like, for example The Salted Pepper Kitchen.
  4. Set From to contains and put in [email protected].
  5. Set the folder to Inbox, then click Save.

If you have a verizon.net address, this is your section. Verizon retired its own email and moved everyone to AOL Mail, so you sign in at AOL and these are your steps.

Yahoo Mail

  1. Click the Settings icon, then More Settings.
  2. Choose Filters, then Add new filters.
  3. Name it anything you like, for example The Salted Pepper Kitchen.
  4. Set From to contains and put in [email protected].
  5. Choose Inbox as the folder, then click Save.

Filters can only be set up on a computer, not in the Yahoo app.

If you have an att.net address, this is your section. AT&T Mail runs on Yahoo, so your inbox works the same way.

Outlook, Hotmail and Live

  1. Go to Settings, then Mail, then Junk email.
  2. Under Senders, open Safe senders and domains.
  3. Click Add safe sender and put in [email protected].
  4. Click Save.

Quicker, from an open email: click the three dots at the top of the message and choose Add to Safe senders.

Comcast and Xfinity

  1. Sign in to your Xfinity email and click the Settings gear in the top right.
  2. Choose Settings, then Filter Rules.
  3. Click Add New Rule and name it, for example The Salted Pepper Kitchen.
  4. Set From to contains and put in [email protected].
  5. Set the action to deliver it to your Inbox, then Save.

Xfinity also has a setting called Email Safe List. Please leave that one alone unless you know you want it, because when it is switched on you stop receiving mail from everyone who is not on the list.

Apple Mail, iCloud and me.com

On a computer, at icloud.com:

  1. Open Mail, click the Settings icon, then Settings.
  2. Choose Rules, then + to add one.
  3. Set the message condition to is from and put in [email protected].
  4. Set the action to Move to Folder and choose Inbox.
  5. Click Add.

On your iPhone or iPad you can also open one of my emails, tap my name at the top, tap Add to VIP. Mail from a VIP goes to its own list and stays out of junk.

If one of my emails already went to spam

Open it and click Not spam, or Report not junk, whichever your provider calls it. That moves it to your inbox and teaches your provider where the next one belongs. Then follow your steps above so it does not happen again.
